Happy March!

Is spring on it's way yet? All my friends and family are tired of the snow, so here's to hoping it is on it's way. Here in the Florida we have been experiencing three days warm, three days cold. Seems like it doesn't know if it should be warm or cold. In the meantime the amount of pollen all over our cars will make you understand why your sinus's are going crazy. We sure hope spring is on it's way, no matter where you may be.

Here at the Plucky Butterfly Design's we are just getting back into the normal day events. My youngest son had surgery February 25th due to his sever migraines from a Chari Malformation and a Spine Malformation. His surgery went great and his recovery has gone awesome. Mama Plucky Butterfly is ready to get back behind the scenes and begin creating and designing again.

I did release a serger cone cover pattern. If you own a serger, have opened serger cones and knit scraps, why not make some covers for them.  For the next few weeks you can download the free pattern here. http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/other/serger-cone-covers-/88048. Download while it is free and dress your serger cones up in a cute little cover. They have helped me tremendously. I can store them with my fabrics, leave them on my desk and no worrying about little hands unraveling your thread or dust getting on them while not in use.

We have a few exciting new pattern ideas in the works. Hopefully we can get back to work and bring those to you soon.

Hoping you all are having a happy sewing day and if your not sewing we hope your enjoying some family time.

Today the "Surround Me With Love" twirl skirt was released. Personally, I was happier for the testers of this pattern, to finally be able to share their creations. The group of testers, whom tested, all produced such beautiful pieces, it just made my heart smile. We all worked through a lot together.  After all, every size of this pattern was hand drawn by me and digitized by a good friend. Another friend was busy editing the tutorial, and another was leading the group of testers. Overall it just was an awesome experience. The women were very honest and great feedback so that I could tweak the pattern to what it is now. Letting them know today that the pattern was published just felt so good.  They were all so very proud of what they created. I can't take any of their credit for what they designed. All I did was show them how I personally created it, so they could create one or more like the one I designed. I love being able to help people. What makes me the most happiest, is making other people proud about what they accomplished. After all, it is not what we do, it is about what we can give and offer others.

Today was a great day. Even though I lost my dad 4 years ago today, truth is, he is still within me.  He raised me to be the person I am today. His values in life were taught to me in many ways. Sometimes we take our families for granted. Sometimes we don't realize how much they have given us in life till they are gone.  But for me, I chose to honor my dad every February and do something in his honor.  He deserves that!!

Be proud of who you are. Be proud for the journeys in life you have walked down. Just never give up, keep believing in who you are. For we all matter to someone in this world.

I sure hope this skirt pattern I designed creates numerous happy faces around the world. Each child sure is a blessing.

My pattern is also available on craftsy. Link given below.

Welcome to The Plucky Butterfly Designs.

My name is Pam. I am a mom to 3 boys and 1 girl. I was granted one special angel from heaven and he began my journey in learning to sew cloth diapers for him. I then ventured into making clothes for my children. My father was diagnosed with Cancer and was given a min of 2 years to live. During one of our conversations he asked if I could make him something. He said as a father us children never brought home special art and projects just for dads. Made sense, Fathers Day is in June. After I hung up the phone I began making my first ever blanket, an appliqué blanket. While he was going through Chemo I wanted him to know that he was in our hearts and he was surrounded by love. Putting that blanket in the mail meant more to me than I ever thought possible. The phone call that followed was even more touching. We cried together, then laughed.

My father passed away February 5th, 2010. He never made it his full 2 years, but he fought hard.  One request he had from me was for me to continue sewing and keep touching lives the way I touched his with my gift. He then asked for me to be sure I placed that blanket in the casket so he could take it to heaven with him. That was a hard thing to do. After seeing that blanket mean so much to him and then it go with him, it hurt. I didn't touch my sewing machine for nearly a year. Then his favorite cousin contacted me. Her best friend was diagnosed with Cancer and she wanted a special blanket for her, like the one I made my dad. That is when the healing of losing my dad began. I cried many tears through that blanket, but sewing healed my wounds.

Every February since losing my dad I did something sewing related for Cancer in his honor. This year, another journey has begun. I have honored every life lesson my dad taught me every year. This  year, I am honoring perseverance. For the last two years I have had people beg me to design patterns for the items I create. Finally this year, I did it. What better way to honor my dad than to offer my new pattern I designed solely for a Deaf and Blind girl. I wanted her to feel the love that surrounded her.  So this is for you dad.  PERSEVERANCE!!
